Response To Letter From Congressman Mark Souder, R-IN

Dear Congressman Souder:

My view of the "economic crises"? The greatest opportunity to shed the cobwebs of a prior way of making a legitimate, respectful living and growing into the potential that all of us who are Americans have the chance to evolve into - IF we really, truly apply ourselves to do so.

First of all, I am NOT a subscriber to the "economic crises" mantra. I think this is all a calculated purposely manufactured media campaign to further secure the global control of access to material resources by those who already control agricultural, energy and financial resources. Americans are just easy targets to manipulate with hype because somewhere along the way, education has taken a back seat to indoctrination - Americans are not taught how to think...We are bred to be told what to think. I know this is a rather broad and general assertion. But, I can defend it. I am in a propaganda oriented industry (event marketing). I have an acting background and know when something is being directed and choreographed. I am also an avid reader and have read enough books of past and present ideologists who have clearly stated what it is that they wish to do to be producers of "change" and why you and I should follow. Must I name names here with this last one?

Specifically, you asked me "how the government's response in the stimulus and President Obama's budget affected you". Generically, the only effect it has had on me is what I am presented with by the media. One can't help notice that only the most negative stories are ever aired. Why? "Pain sells". Unfortunately, we have a media that is more concerned about occupying their accounts receivable coffers than they are about shedding light on people who refuse to succumb to adversity. Rather, they take advantage of it. Why? Because, that is what being fortunate enough to be an American is all about! At least, it used to be.

You allege that "the government must respond, but, it must do so wisely". OK, really? Why might that be? Short of America now being overrun by illegal aliens and the resources they freely suck up, is America being invaded by a foreign power? Is there a mass pandemic of the 1918 Spanish Flu repeating itself? Is it written somewhere that NE Indiana residents must be totally dependent on an outside source to make a living. Let alone, work 20-50 years in only one occupation or trade? Please, indulge me,

When I was born, did I personally receive some sort of birthright that I had my own personal Garden of Eden replete with an unlimited abundance of unending supply and prosperity...and NEVER had to take care of it?  Trust me, there have been times in my life that I truly thought that simply because I am a natural born American (a Native American Hoosier), that I am owed something in return for my existence. That is a complete lie. Problem is, there is a fully operating channel of media out there in the public domain that actively encourages such thinking.

After coming back home from the then called Operation Enduring Freedom/Noble Eagle (now called Operation Iraqi Freedom) I did a internship out at the Unemployment Office on Ruddisell Ave. here in Fort Wayne in the fall of 2003. I worked with the veterans who came in there to seek assistance. While I have always believed that veterans are deserving of "consideration" for their sacrifices in serving in the military (while their chronological age competition grows in the civilian sector), I quickly became appalled by three things:

1.     The automatic assumption that they were "deserving" of this and that in the way of benefits unavailable to civilians (regardless of true nature of their service).

2.     The statement, "But, I have done the same job for years and IT is all I know how to do!"

3.     The statement, “I worked for the same company for (such and such) years and the just laid me off out of the blue for no reason!”

I was initially brought to tears being hammered with this stuff day in and day out. Soon into this internship, though, I began to see a pattern emerge. What initially was an abundance of symbolic sympathy for their plight; empathy because I felt the same way about allot of these vets. This pattern soon exposed itself as an attempt of clear manipulation to be able to be in a position to extract something for nothing! That something was a government handout. the nothing was that they didn't have to continue participating in generating a personal (micro) economy so they could contribute to the general 9macro) economy! This attitude is clearly (to me) expressed in terms of those now hell bent on actively recruiting more government involvement into their personal lives.

Congressman Souder, my perspective is this:

1.    I I am VERY grateful for the VA Hospital here I Fort Wayne. I am grateful for the VA period. But, do I DESERVE it? I think not. I am fortunate and blessed to have access to it. Could I live without it? Providing that I do the required things to keep myself healthy and fit (IE, exercise, eat a balanced diet, not fill my body and mind with drugs, tobacco and alcohol, etc), you betcha! The VA is a privilege, not a right. And, regret ably, way too many vets from the prior generations who thrived upon previous government pr grams (IE, GI Bill, home loans, etc.) are locked into a paradigm of thinking that the government is responsible for their well being. This is a huge problem!! To  me, if more of these cantankerous old fogies would drop and get back to doing pus-ups and drop their waistlines and cigarettes, they would drop allot of their present resentments, too!
As f
or insurance premiums, national health care, etc.? If we lived in a country that actually practiced a healthy lifestyle as opposed to just talking about it, would these even be on the docket for discussion? If abortion was viewed exactly for what it is (murder) would the consequences of that medical cottage industry be an issue? If out of wedlock berthing of babies ceased and the raising of children by a mother and a father were again the generic norm, would these be on the docket for discussion? My job is to stay healthy, live a lifestyle that resists disease and aging; not live irresponsibly and recklessly because I know the government is going to be there to take care of my stupidity!!! That is just wrong!

2.     IIt is up to ME to figure out how to make a living. Regardless of what I have learned in the past, what I am trained to do, I MUST CONTINUE TO STAY CURRENT WITH BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY TRENDS!!! Duh, when has anything in this life EVER remained the same? Even gram's chocolate cookies changed with time. And, when the microwave came along, do you think that gram still sweated out slaving over her gas stove in rural Whitley County? If I am out of a job because it has been replaced by something or someone new, I have two choices: I either get current so that I am marketable again or I moan and groan that my government check is late in the mail. and, trust me on this one, I know what it is like to receive a government check to replace not working. It was made so easy for me to get that working wasn't worth working for! Allowing me to have the government to fall back on totally destroyed any inspiration to work. As such, I created a thinking paradigm which validated my life being worthy of grossing $312 a week!!3.

3.     The 3d item here kind of segways off from the 2ND. I am an American! Where has it ever been written that, if I go to "work for the man/woman", that same work is going to be there tomorrow?" If it is written somewhere, I would like to be shown it. That is kind of a rather arrogant perspective to project from. Why, just yesterday on WOWO, some lady whose husband moved to Fort Wayne from southern California to take a job out at the local GM plant (which, by definition, took a job from someone here locally!) should be bailed out simply because he chose to move here to take that job! Who is teaching people to think this stuff up? I bet, you and I both know the answer to that one. Still, since when has any business in history gone into business to become a social welfare provider for its employees. To me, business is in the business of business!

Look, Congressman Souder, I am in college loan debt up to my receding hairline. I am drowning in interest and the financial lack to pay on any of it. It has always been this way. I have never made more than $24K in my 48-years of life. I have a net worth of about $100k+. I cannot find regular, consistent work wither in my industry here locally or nationally. But, the reality is, I have NEVER changed my life operating model to address my own personal poverty issues. The choices I have made have brought me such. I cannot blame anyone else for my economic presence on this earth. And, I am not sorry in saying that way too many people are trying to take advantage of an opportunity to extract more and more from the government to pay for their (my) excesses and never have to be held accountable.

Somehow, someway, I am going to figure out how to overcome my own economic personal challenges. No matter what the government does, the point is, I do not need you. In fact, in my view, the government has done too much damage to pursuing the overall American dream to begin with. As an American I will invent a way to overcome anything that is thrown my way - let alone shoved down my throat by this President and his sycophants in the federal legislature. It sure will not be today. Probably, not tomorrow. But, one day the time will come when my potential is realized. And, when this happens? I am not there yet, so how could I know? This last point should be food for thought for those getting cozier in Washington DC!

PS: If you are a potential employer or business associate, this is what and who I am as of this composure. I do not beat around the bush anymore when it comes to business or who my associations are. Too much time and money are lost being phony. Life is to short for such.
